Webber goes quickest at Jerez

Mark Webber showed Red Bull Racing were making continued progress with their new RB4 as he ended the third full day of official testing at Jerez in Spain half a second clear of his nearest rival

Although his 1:18.628 lap probably owed something to fuel loads and new tyres, the laptime will be a boost to the team that have made a step forward since introducing their radical 'shark fin' engine cover in testing.

Williams duo Nico Rosberg and Kazuki Nakajima proved that the wing problems that marred their team's test at Barcelona were well behind them as they set the second and third best times.

Local hero Fernando Alonso, whose presence no doubt contributed to the presence of 4,000 fans today, was fourth quickest for Renault, with BMW Sauber's Robert Kubica one place behind him on the timesheets.

Lewis Hamilton, who had been quickest on the opening day, was sixth fastest overall, ahead of Red Bull Racing's David Coulthard, who brought a red flag out at 10.04am when he went off at Turn One.

The only other red flag of the day was caused by Nelsinho Piquet, whose Renault R28 came to a halt on the start-finish straight at 3.32pm. He ran across the track and back to the pits, with a small patch of oil on the track left behind by his car swiftly cleaned up.

Honda Racing continued to work on their RA108, with laptimes seemingly not boosted much by a new rear wing introduced today. Jenson Button was 13th fastest, with Rubens Barrichello 15th overall.
