Lammers to make 21st Le Mans start

Sportscar veteran Jan Lammers will make his 21st start at the Le Mans 24 Hours this year after signing for American LMP1 team CytoSport.

Lammers, who won the race in 1988 with Jaguar alongside Andy Wallace and Johnny Dumfries, was called up at the request of CytoSport regular Klaus Graf, with whom he made a one-off start in a Panoz in 1999.

Lammers had entered his own Racing for Holland team at Le Mans for the last seven years, but decided not to return in 2008 for financial reasons.

The Dutchman will share CytoSport's Lolda with Graf and team boss Greg Pickett as he becomes only the ninth driver to start more than 20 times at Le Mans.

He said: "It will be good to go back to Le Mans and the Lola is a solid car that could spring a surprise."

CytoSport was rewarded with an entry for Le Mans by finishing third in the LMP1 class in the American Le Mans Series with their Lola-AER. It will field the ex-Charouz Judd-powered Lola in the 24 Hours, in conjunction with the British Jota squad.
