Lorenzo on top on final day at Sepang

Jorge Lorenzo showed that Michelin's qualifying form remains strong as he topped the times on the final day of this week's MotoGP test at Sepang in Malaysia

The Fiat Yamaha rider put in a series of qualifying runs late in the day to end the session almost half a second clear of teammate Valentino Rossi.

Neither rider completed a race distance simulation due to mechanical glitches and a red flag caused by Olivier Jacque' Kawasaki, but Lorenzo still managed a total of 72 laps, with Rossi completing 48.

The only other MotoGP regulars to take to the track today were the Honda Gresini pair of Shinya Nakano and Alex de Angelis. Both completed fewer than 25 laps on their Honda RC212Vs while testing new parts and Bridgestone compounds.

Until a setback caused by a fuel deficiency, Jacque and Tamaki Serizawa continued to develop new parts for Kawasaki throughout the day.

The next official MotoGP test takes place at Jerez from February 16-18.
