Kubica hopeful BMW will fight for wins

Robert Kubica is hopeful the BMW Sauber team have taken a big enough step forward that will allow them to fight for victory this year

The German squad unveiled their new F1.08 on Monday confident that will be the car to allow them to fight with McLaren and Ferrari at the top of the field.

BMW were the third strongest team in 2007, and Pole Kubica is hoping they can make enough progress to score their maiden victory.

"Let's hope as Nick mentioned we have done really big progress compared to 2006/2007 and I believe all people who have worked on this car have given maximum," said Kubica, who will partner Nick Heidfeld again.

"We have the right people in right place to show to the fans that maybe we can win a race this season.

"I know a bit more than everybody who is here about the new car and I believe this car will help me and Nick to maybe win a race.

The Pole, sixth in last year's championship, added: "I think all season will be a big challenge and every single race is a big challenge.

"We have to maximize our performance and score as many points as possible, and let's hope we have much more points as last season."
