Filippi confirmed at ART for 2008

Luca Filippi will race for former GP2 champions ART Grand Prix in next year's GP2 Series, the team have announced

The Italian, who finished fourth in his second year of GP2 in 2007, made his decision after testing with the team at the end of the season.

"I'm really pleased because I tested with different teams this winter and I enjoyed a lot the work we did together with ART," said the 22-year-old.

"I found a very professional team and very motivated people. I think that with my potential and the one of the team our aim has to be the title.

"My personal goal will be to fight for wins in every single race weekend and I think that with my experience and with the help of the team we will be able to achieve that."

Filippi, who took his only win of the 2007 season at the first weekend in Bahrain, will partner series rookie Romain Grosjean at the French team.

Team co-owner Nicolas Todt said: "I'm extremely pleased we reached an agreement with Luca because he's a very talented driver.

"His approach is extremely professional and he has quite a lot of experience in the series, which will be useful in aiming for the top step."

Fellow team boss Fred Vasseur believes that signing Filippi gives the 2005 and 2006 champions an ideal driver line-up.

"The winter test we underwent with Luca convinced us he is the driver we need alongside Romain for the upcoming season when we'll have to get the maximum out of the new car," he said.

"His feedback was impressive and accurate, and his last season in the series shows he has what it takes to fight for the best results."
