Chilton signs with Team Dynamics
Tom Chilton will race for Team Dynamics in the 2008 British Touring Car Championship, the team announced on Saturday
The 22-year-old will replace double champion Matt Neal, who left his family-run team to take Chilton's place at Vauxhall.
Chilton may have left the 2007 champions after a disappointing season, but he believes that he will enjoy more success with the Honda Civic than he did with the title-winning Vectra.
"I reckon the Civic will be the fastest car on the grid next year," he said. "I go where I think I can win, so I'm really excited.
"I think the Civic will be better suited to my driving style than the Vectra, and this is the best drive that I could be in for 2008."
Chilton joins Gordon Shedden at the team, who the Scot scored for wins with on his way to third in the standings in 2007.
With Neal finishing fourth in the standings, Team Dynamics were one of the strongest all-round teams in 2007, despite only getting their car ready one week before the season started.
Chilton believes that with more experience of the car, the former champions can fight for the title again.
"This will be my seventh year in the BTCC," he added. "I've won races before and shown I can run at the front, and now I want to win the title. This is my chance to do that."
Team boss Steve Neal added: "I believe that the fight for overall honours in 2008 will be between our two drivers.
"Tom's found new maturity after six years in the BTCC which has seen him turn into a very comprehensive and capable driver. May the best man win."
