Bonanomi fastest on day two of test

Marco Bonanomi set the pace on the second day of World Series by Renault testing at Paul Ricard on Wednesday

The Italian set his best lap in the closing stages with GD Racing, who were keen to make a point after missing out on an entry for next year.

"As everyone knows this team won't be racing in the championship in 2008," said Bonanomi, who has also gone well in recent GP2 tests. "They wanted to show what they were capable of, and I've really enjoyed this day."

Behind Bonanomi were the Tech 1 cars of Julien Jousse and Tuesday's pacesetter Charles Pic, while Aleix Alcaraz and Bertrand Baguette completed the top five.

The faster times were set mainly in the afternoon session, although two drivers who were consistent in both sessions were Michael Herck, and F3 Euro Series racer Dani Clos.

The second day of the three-day test was marred by several red flags, and many drivers believed that they could have set faster times if their runs had not been interrupted.
