Alonso has 'some idea' what he wants to do

Fernando Alonso remained tight-lipped about his plans for next year and whether or not he will leave McLaren, as speculation about the Spaniard's future continue to intensify

The two-time world champion has been tied with almost every team by now, with recent speculations suggesting he may swap seats with Nico Rosberg at Williams.

But Alonso himself admitted even he does not yet know where he will drive next year.

"There are many options open, we are discussing all of them," he told Telecinco. "I have some idea of what I want to do; a plan, or a hope. I know what I'd like to do next year, but I don't know if it's possible.

"Whatever happens, it will be a difficult season."

Alonso returned to his home town in Oviedo, Spain, over the weekend to the welcoming cheers of tens of thousands of fans who hailed the two-time champion as he spoke from a high balcony.

"On this day, the tribute should be paid to you, not me, because even though I haven't won, you have made me feel the happiest in the world," he told the crowd.

"Without you I wouldn't have the strength to try again to win next year. Instead, we will.

"It will be difficult, but I, compared to the others, have the strength of having you, the whole of Spain, behind me. We'll fight together."
