Grapevine: Huge crowd for Mexican Renault event

Renault attracted the biggest ever crowd to one of their Roadshow events at the weekend, when 300,000 people turned up to see their Formula One demonstration in Mexico City

Giancarlo Fisichella and Nelson Piquet Jr showed off one of last year's R26s along the Paseo de la Reforma, one of the city's main streets, and around the famous Angel of Independence.

The Roadshow was Renault's first event in Central America and was judged to have been a huge success.

Fisichella said: "Renault and ING worked so hard to make this event happen here in Mexico, and I think we managed to put on a cool show for the Mexican people today. The atmosphere was just incredible, and it was a great pleasure to take part in this event."

Piquet Jr added: "We got a fantastic welcome here in Mexico. We were determined to put on a good show, and I think we managed that! There were so many people lining the track and I hope they all enjoyed the event. I certainly did."
