BMW announce launch date for 2008 car
BMW Sauber will launch their 2008 car in the middle of January next year, the team have confirmed
The team's new F1.08 is currently being designed at their Hinwil base and will be unveiled on January 14th and 15th next year. A location for the launch has not yet been decided, however.
Although the car will be an evolution of this year's design, BMW motorsport director Mario Theissen has high hopes that it will provide a step forward in speed over the F1.07 that has helped the team to second place in the constructors' championship.
"If you don't change the regulations for several years every car will be an evolution, you won't see any revolutions," said Theissen.
"Obviously we have something in the pocket that cannot be introduced in the current car, but only in the next design. And that will be realised for next year.
"I can only hope that it will be a step change over what we have today and that the step will be bigger than our competitors."
