Ferrari plan major aero step for Japan
Ferrari are planning to introduce an aggressive aero upgrade on their F2007 at the Japanese Grand Prix, this week's Autosport reveals, as they bid to overhaul McLaren in the fight for the world championship
The team have set their sights on victory in the final five races of the campaign, having shown their potential with a 1-2 finish in last weekend's Turkish Grand Prix.
And part of their plan to achieve that target is with a full bodywork upgrade that will be raced for the first time at Fuji in September.
Autosport reports that the upgrade package will feature new front and rear wings, bargeboards and new upper bodywork.
The push to win this year's championship is not making life easy for Ferrari though, with the team admitting in Turkey last weekend that they were struggling to manage the demands of fighting for the title and preparing their 2008 car.
Aldo Costa, the head of Ferrari's chassis department, said: "The balance is very difficult to achieve, to be honest, because we are still fighting for the championship.
"There is a very long lead time of preparation for 2008 and it has to start. So it is a very tough period. We are still working on this car, pushing the development, but the 2008 car has to be seriously considered."
