Tagliani fastest in warm-up
Alex Tagliani continued his strong form at Road America this weekend by topping the Sunday morning warm-up
The RSPORTS driver, who should have won his first Champ Car race here in 2000 and eventually scored his only Champ Car win here in 2004, lapped the 4.048-mile Elkhart Lake course at an average speed of 139.259mph, putting himself 0.15 seconds ahead of PKV Racing's Tristan Gommendy.
Sebastien Bourdais and Graham Rahal were in third and fifth places for Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing, split by the Team Minardi USA entry of Robert Doornbos, and ahead of Team Australia duo Simon Pagenaud and Will Power.
Dan Clarke's 10th fastest time, 0.7 seconds off Minardi teammate Doornbos was unrepresentative as he was black-flagged for spraying fluid on the track, but his compatriot Justin Wilson continued to struggle with his RSPORTS machine.
As per most of the weekend, the slowest two cars on track were the Forsythe Championship Racing entry of Paul Tracy and the Dale Coyne Racing car of Katherine Legge. The latter was 3.6 seconds off Tagliani's pace.
