Ferrari president praises his drivers

Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has praised both his drivers following their performance at the British Grand Prix on Sunday

Kimi Raikkonen stormed to victory at Silverstone, beating McLaren drivers Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton for his third win of the season.

Raikkonen's teammate Felipe Massa, meanwhile, was forced to start from the pitlane after a problem with his car right before the start. The Brazilian, however, recovered well, overtaking several cars on his way to fifth place.

"To win in England is a double satisfaction for a thousand reasons," di Montezemolo told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"Ferrari were clearly faster in the race. I was pleased to admire Raikkonen's nice laps: those five spotless laps were up there with the best from (Michael) Schumacher.

"I also saw a magnificent Massa: he took risks in overtaking everyone, he was very good. We set the two best laps of the race with a half-second advantage. Massa started from the pitlane and ended up fifth, while Kimi won: it's a great satisfaction."

Despite his happiness, di Montezemolo was again critical of Formula One's current scoring system.

Ferrari have won five races this year, but the Italian squad are still 25 points behind rivals McLaren, winners of four Grands Prix.

"There's some bitterness for a rule book no other sport has: Ferrari are awarded victory but we're still behind in both championships," he added.

"This is unsporting, it's wrong: F1 shouldn't be a sport for calculators, it should be for winners."
