Elias targets Czech Grand Prix return

Spanish rider Toni Elias is targeting a return to MotoGP action by the Czech Grand Prix, less than two months after braking his leg

The Gresini rider broke his femur in an accident during the British Grand Prix at Donington and underwent surgery just one day after the crash.

Although doctors estimated Elias could be out of action for three months, the Spaniard admits he is aiming to return in less then two months' time.

"The doctors are talking about three months, but I think faith moves mountains and the challenge is to be able to be back by the Czech Grand Prix, on August 19," Elias was quoted as saying by AS newspaper.

Elias admits it had been tough dealing with the injury, but he is adamant that he will be back on form and reckons the accident has made his tougher.

"I've been through difficult moments, but you need to move on," he said. "The decision to have surgery immediately was the right one and now I'm starting the recovery. I'm already eager to begin. I'm convinced I'm tough and the accident has made me even tougher.

"I'm aware that the injury has come in the worst moment, when things had started to go well and when I could show the manufacturers and the teams that they could count on me.

"But it's never too late. My goal is still to be world champion one day and I'll fight for it."
