Kovalainen predicts more Renault progress

Heikki Kovalainen believes his Renault team may take another step forward at the French Grand Prix after a positive test in Silverstone

"We definitely found something again," Kovalainen told autosport.com after the second day of testing on Wednesday.

Renault, world champions for the past two seasons, have been making progress towards the front since they struggled with their car at the start of the year.

Kovalainen scored his best result of the season with a fourth in Montreal and then went on to complete a strong North American double-header with a fifth place in Indianapolis.

"I do respect all these guys who never gave up and we are really coming around and we can go back to a normal racing weekend in the next one," the Finn added.

"The car was good here although the condition was not that easy, it rained a bit but we got through the programme more or less.

"It was not really only about the tyres we found it difficult to come to terms with. Do you remember last year in the end, our development slacked a bit compared to Ferrari? Well, we went back as far as that to really understand the problem of this year and I think we are getting there."
