Spyker tell drivers to raise their game
Spyker have told their drivers Christijan Albers and Adrian Sutil to raise their game, after a disappointing Canadian Grand Prix last weekend
Both drivers crashed out at Montreal's Circuit Gilles Villeneuve after raising hopes of the Ferrari-powered team's first points finish in a race that saw just 12 finishers out of 22 starters.
"The retirements were avoidable and we know that," said team boss Colin Kolles ahead of this weekend's US Grand Prix. "We cannot continue making mistakes that ultimately cost us positions and points.
"Both Mike [Gascoyne] and myself spoke to Adrian and Christijan after the race and explained how we could not accept another situation like this," he added.
Gascoyne said the team, bottom of the constructors' championship, had missed a great opportunity.
"We were very much on top of it on the pit wall. We had the right strategy and it was going to come to us," he said.
"In the end what should have been a great opportunity for us was lost through a couple of driving mistakes and that's very disappointing."
