Farfus wins second Pau race
Augusto Farfus bounced back from his roll in yesterday's qualifying session with a lights-to-flag win in the second race of Pau's round of the World Touring Car Championship
The Schnitzer Motorsport mechanics had worked all night to get his car ready for the races, and after battling his way from 13th on the grid to finish seventh in race one, Farfus gained a front row slot for the reverse grid.
At the start, both he and the RBM BMW 320si of Andy Priaulx jumped ahead of pole-sitter Jordi Gene's SEAT.
Although Priaulx tracked Farfus to the flag, ending up second by under half a second, he never had a realistic chance to pass the Brazilian.
Farfus's win moves him up to second in the championship, which is now lead by Priaulx after second Schnitzer driver Jorg Muller failed to score because of a damper problem in practice that left him well down the grid.
Tiago Monteiro claimed his second podium of the day with third, narrowly holding off the lead Chevrolet of Rob Huff.
Gene eventually finished fifth after losing position when he clashed with BMW driver Felix Porteiro at Lycee.
SEAT teammate Yvan Muller leading home James Thompson's Alfa Romeo and race one winner Alain Menu's Chevy to round out the points.
Pierre-Yves Corthals was the best of the independent runners in 13th overall after class leaders Stefano d'Aste and Sergio Hernandez clashed at the Virage de la Gare early in the race.
The incident, which brought out the safety car, also removed fellow indies Miguel Freitas and Emmet O'Brien from the race.
