Premat to return at Lausitz
Alexandre Premat has been cleared to return to DTM action with Audi this weekend at Lausitz
The Frenchman suffered a cracked lumbar vertebra in a crash at the first round of the season, but after missing the race at Oschersleben he is now fit to return to racing.
"I had an x-ray on Friday and the results were good," Premat told autosport.com. "The doctors have told me there are no problems, my back is fit."
Premat had shown impressive pace during practice at Hockenheim in his 2006-specification Audi A4, and he believes that he will be able to put in a strong showing on his return to action.
Gary Paffett's victory last time out in a one-year-old Mercedes means that the 2006 Audis will run even lighter than they did at Oschersleben, where Mike Rockenfeller scored a podium.
"The car will be lighter, so I'm very optimistic," Premat added. "I'm very happy for Mike, and I was very impressed with the older cars that locked out the podium.
"The result at Oschersleben shows that the DTM concept works. Practically every driver can score points."
Premat had been replaced by Marco Werner at Oschersleben, but the German would not have been able to race again this weekend as he will be competing for Audi in the American Le Mans Series.
