Schumacher may be silent on return

Former world champion Michael Schumacher has hinted that he may steer clear of talking about Formula One when he returns to the paddock at the Spanish Grand Prix.

Schumacher is due to make his first appearance at an F1 race since he quit the sport last year at next month's event in Barcelona.

But despite the huge media interest that is likely to be generated by his presence, Schumacher has said that he may continue to keep quiet about his feelings on the sport.

He has spoken only about F1 in a Shell press conference last weekend, and refused to talk about it during an appearance for the FIA at the start of the United Nations Road Safety Week in London on Monday.

Speaking in Italy yesterday after a visit to Maranello, Schumacher told Gazzetta dello Sport that he still planning to attend the Spanish Grand Prix.

"I think so," he said. "But up to now I've always preferred not to speak about Formula One as a sign of respect towards the team, and maybe I'll carry on this way."

Sources have revealed that Ferrari and Schumacher's management team are still considering whether or not to host any formal media events over the Spanish weekend.
