Heidfeld savours 'great' move on Alonso

Nick Heidfeld says his overtaking move over Fernando Alonso in the Bahrain Grand Prix was one of the best moments of his career

The BMW Sauber driver, enjoying one of his strongest seasons to date, pulled an exciting move to jump ahead of the two-time world champion on lap 32 of the Sakhir race on Sunday.

Heidfeld managed to stay ahead of Alonso during the rest of the race, finishing in a fourth place that BMW labelled as their strongest performance in Formula One.

The German driver admitted he really enjoyed the moment.

"It was great," Heidfeld said of his move. "It was one of my nicest experiences in Formula One and my motorsport career.

"It's just so difficult to overtake in Formula One and it was a close move - we almost touched in Turn Four but we both knew what to do.

"I had better traction out of the corner and when I was alongside him and he was on the inside I thought 'it's going to be close' but I just gained a few more metres on traction."
