Raines angry with Montoya
Juan Pablo Montoya has been criticised by Tony Raines after the pair collided at Martinsville on Sunday
Raines was forced into a spin as the pair battled for ninth during the middle of the race, and he believes that Montoya needs to be able to control himself when battling with other cars.
"If he's so good, he should be able to not run into the back of somebody," said Raines, who recovered to finish on the lead lap in 20 th position.
"You rub a little bit at Martinsville, but he had been diving in deep all day. I just didn't want to drive in that deep and he wrecked me."
Raines added that he would not dispute Montoya's ability, but he was disappointed that their battled had ended in a big collision.
"Without a doubt he is unbelievably talented," he said. "But I don't think what happened on Sunday was quite necessary. I wasn't happy about it.
"He's got some learning to do. I guess I need to figure out how he wants to race everybody."
Felix Sabates, part owner of the Chip Ganassi team, defended his driver, saying that his rivals were racing him hard because of his reputation
"They were all racing him hard," he said. "The other drivers aren't going to give him any breaks. "He's going to have to make his own breaks, and they're going to have to work with him sooner or later."
