Gavin to make LMS debut

Oliver Gavin will make his debut in the Le Mans Series this year with the Luc Alphand Aventures team

The reigning American Le Mans Series GT1 champion will share a Corvette C6.R with Jerome Policand and Patrice Goueslard at Silverstone and Interlagos, and the British driver is pleased to be able to race in Europe again.

"I'm really pleased this has come together because I've missed racing in Europe," he said. "It will be great to race in front of my home crowd at Silverstone."

Gavin hasn't raced regularly in Europe for several years, although he has returned to the continent for Le Mans each year with his ALMS team Corvette Racing.

This year he will add another 24-hour race to his schedule, as he will also join the team for the Spa 24 hours in July.

"I've always wanted to do the Spa 24 hours," he said. "Luc Alphand Aventures is a well put together team and the fact they run Corvettes presents obvious synergies.

"The C6.R they are running is my 2006 ALMS car, so I should feel right at home."

Gavin should face larger GT1 fields in Europe than he is in America at the moment, but he insisted that he has no intentions of making a full-time switch across the Atlantic.

"I have a fantastic time racing in America and a wonderful job with Corvette Racing, which I don't intend giving up," he said.

"I must thank Steve Wesoloski and Doug Fehan for allowing me to take this opportunity and I aim to represent General Motors and Corvette Racing as well in Europe as I do in the States."
