Nakano not feeling 100% ready yet
Konica Minolta Honda rider Shinya Nakano believes the upcoming test at the Jerez circuit will be vital to complete his preparations for the start of the 2007 season
The Japanese rider admits he is not feeling 100 percent ready for the season-opening race, but he is hoping their work at Jerez this week will help him find the right combination of tyres for the race in Qatar.
Nakano has spent the last months adapting to several changes, including a new team, a new bike and new tyres.
The Jerez event will be the final test before the start of the season at the Losail circuit.
"The coming three days at the IRTA tests are very important because they are held only 15 days before the first round of the 2007 MotoGP World Championship," said Nakano.
"It'll be vital to find a good combination of tyres to use for the first and second races, in particular we need to find a good rear tyre during this test.
"I do not feel 100% ready yet, so I know that I still have much to do and improve, but by the end of this test I hope that we'll be more than prepared for the first two races of the year.
"I'm happy at how the team and I have learned to work together over the last few months as good communication will be vital throughout the year. I like Jerez, it is a good technical track and in the past I have obtained good results, so I love riding around there."
