Williams, Spyker kick off Valencia test

The Williams and Spyker teams kicked off on Monday one of their final tests ahead of the start of the 2007 season, working at the Valencia circuit

While the rest of the teams travel to Bahrain for this week's test at the Sakhir circuit, both Williams and Spyker will carry out their programmes at the Spanish track.

The British squad set the pace on the opening day of work, with Alex Wurz finishing on top of the times with a best lap of 1:11.600.

Wurz outpaced test driver Kazuki Nakajima who caused the only red flag of the day when he went off at the first corner.

Spyker's test drivers Giedo van der Garde and Adrian Valles made their debut at the wheel of the new F8-VII car, the Dutchman finishing as quickest, ahead of teammate Adrian Sutil.

Spaniard Valles was the slowest of the three after 42 laps.

Both teams will continued testing at Valencia tomorrow.
