Hopkins doubtful for Jerez test
Rizla Suzuki will make a late call on whether John Hopkins is able to join them for this week's official pre-season MotoGP test at Jerez following his crash at Qatar last week
Hopkins broke a toe and suffered bruising during a high-speed crash on the final morning of the three-day test at Losail. He had just set the then fastest time of the day during qualifying simulation runs.
After flying back to Britain for examination by a specialist, Suzuki are now waiting for news on whether Hopkins will be fit to make a comeback.
Team sources have told autosport.com that no decision has yet been taken on who will ride for them, despite suggestions that Japanese rider's Kousuke Akiyoshi's presence at the test is because he will be replacing Hopkins.
Akiyoshi was always due to test because he is a wildcard entry for the Jerez round of MotoGP, the second round of the championship that takes place on March 25.
The Japanese rode his first MotoGP race at Motegi last year as a wildcard, out qualifying Hopkins and teammate Chris Vermuelen before scoring points in 13th place.
