Williams delighted with first FW29 test

Williams have labelled the first test with their FW29 as a 'bloody good start' after encouraging times at Jerez in Spain this week

Alex Wurz and Nico Rosberg have had a fairly trouble-free time and the new Toyota-powered car has impressed many with its early speed.

And although the drivers and team management are keen not to get carried away with the early signs, they are clearly delighted with how this week has gone.

Technical director Sam Michael told autosport.com: "It is a bloody good start.

"The initial impressions are good. It is a normal system check, debugging so far, and the comments are good. It is a good benchmark and we have a good baseline to work from."

Wurz added: "It's been good. A good start. I already started to play with the car a bit on the first day, but on the second day I was not lucky with the red flags so I could not do as much as a I wanted.

"But just like I said at the launch - a few tenths this year will make you a hero or zero. Your lap times are going to depend on when you go out on the track, what kind of condition the track is in and what the traffic is like. Every little bit will make a difference this year.

"But so far the balance is good, so it is a very good start."
