Berger ready to fight Williams, Spyker

Toro Rosso owner Gerhard Berger says his team are ready to fight in the courts if the Williams and Spyker teams pursue legal action against them

Both Williams and Spyker have not ruled out legal action if Toro Rosso and Super Aguri go ahead with plans to race customer cars in the season-opener in Australia.

Berger, who insists his team are not doing anything against the regulations, is ready to fight his rivals in courts if necessary.

"If they want to do so, fine, then we will fight it out," Berger told the official Formula One website. "But again, we checked our situation very carefully, and we don't see the slightest hint that we are not fulfilling the wording of the regulations.

"We checked very carefully on the legal side, on the FIA side. We have checked very carefully the wording of the Concorde Agreement, and it shows very clearly to us that what we are doing is absolutely correct - that we are inside the regulations.

"We went on a route that even if we wanted we could not go back. It is done."

Berger believes Williams' and Spyker's complaints come from fear that Toro Rosso might beat them in 2007.

"If somebody from the other teams has that impression, that's the nature of competition," the Austrian added.

"But it is not up to them to judge whether what we are doing is right or wrong. I respect their comments, but in our view we are a hundred percent fine.

"It is basically Williams and Spyker who are worried and I know the reason for that - they fear our competitiveness."
