Rosberg, Wurz keep expectations in check

Williams drivers Nico Rosberg and Alex Wurz are keeping the expectations in check ahead of the start of the 2007 season

The British squad are hoping to bounce back following a disappointing 2006, where they finished in eighth position with just 11 points and no podiums.

Although the team face the new season with optimism following new commercial deals and a new partnership with Toyota, Rosberg wants to keep his feet on the ground.

"Generally last year we made a mistake with making expectations too high so we need to be more careful," Rosberg told reporters during the launch of the new FW29.

"We want a car that is reliable and one that has the pace to consistently score points. After that, we can raise our expectations.

"It's very difficult to say anything (about our rivals) at the moment, we have to get in it and see. You get a good impression on the first day, so let's wait for the first test."

Wurz, returning to racing after being a test driver since the 2001 season, says the main goal should be to score points regularly.

"It will be tough to score consistent points, so first we have to see where we are," Wurz added. "We haven't driven the car yet, but the figures look good. So let's wait and see.

"We just want to build a good foundation to bring Williams back to where they should be, it is a good, but consistent points is the target"

Wurz added: "It feels great to be back racing. I've not been away from F1, I've been with championship-winning teams, that raises your own game. But I never had enough of the real stuff. I hope I get that even in Australia.

"It is what I have wanted for years. Someone asked if it doesn't it feel strange to be a race driver. I said no, it felt strange to be a test driver. I want to repay the faith the team have showed in me."
