No plans to run third driver, says Horner
Red Bull Racing have no plans to run a third driver on Fridays of each Grand Prix in 2007, team boss Christian Horner said on Friday
The team, unveiling their new RB3 car in Barcelona, confirmed Robert Doornbos and Michael Ammermuller as their test drivers for the 2007 season, but it appears they won't be taking part in Grand Prix weekends.
Teams will be allowed to run a third driver in Friday practice sessions, but only BMW Sauber have so far stated their intentions to use that option.
The rest of the teams look set to be content with running their two racing drivers, and Red Bull are likely to follow that route.
"At the moment we don't plan to run a Friday third driver," Horner told reporters in Barcelona. "We are going to focus with our race drivers.
"With the restricted testing limit that exists this year we want to give them as much track time as possible, so the role of the test driver is diminished from what it was previously, but Robert did three races for us last year, he has a lot of experience with the way the team works so it was logical to keep him in the fold.
"Michael did some Fridays for us last year as a member of the Red Bull junior team and will continue to race in GP2, so we feel we have got two decent guys in the test role to be drawn upon as and when required."
