Holzer makes 'solid impression' in F1 run

BMW motorsport director Mario Theissen said up-and-coming German driver Marco Holzer made a 'solid impression' during his maiden Formula One test at Valencia yesterday

Holzer was handed his first taste of F1 machinery at Valencia in Spain as a prize for winning last year's Formula BMW World Final in Bahrain. He was given his outing ahead of this weekend's finals at the Spanish circuit.

Speaking about the impressions that Holzer made during his 65-lap run, Theissen said: "Marco made a solid impression during his debut at the wheel of a Formula One car. This test has shown him where his racing career may lead him.

"Marco had a taste of the technological limits and the driving physique, as well of the enormous forces exerted on the drivers in Formula One."

Holzer was clearly overjoyed at the outing, and said that with every lap he got more adjusted to the performance of the F1 car.

"This has been a unique experience," said Holzer. "The cornering speeds are amazing, just like the braking forces. From one lap to the next it became more fun, and I felt more comfortable. The team gave me a warm welcome, and I got all my questions answered.

"I say only this to the competitors of this year's World Final: Push hard to win the race, because a Formula One test drive is just an unforgettable adventure.
