Prodromou starts working with Red Bull
Ex-McLaren chief aerodynamicist Peter Prodromou started working today for Red Bull Racing in a similar role, autosport.com can reveal
His arrival ends a protracted tug-of-love saga over his services between Red Bull and McLaren, and also completes a notable technical coup for RBR.
Prodromou was hand-picked by Red Bull's chief technical officer Adrian Newey - also poached by Red Bull from McLaren - as a man to try to lure from McLaren's technical structure.
Newey and Prodromou are credited with having overseen the design of McLaren's MP4-20 chassis, which was widely recognised as the fastest car of 2005. It won 10 Grands Prix, although Renault's R25 won the constructors' title, having taken eight wins.
Prodromou's arrival gives Red Bull a potentially formidable technical arsenal with which to tackle the 2007 Formula One championship.
The team confirmed earlier this week it would have double-title-winning Renault engines in '07 and two of F1's leading aerodynamicists will be honing the chassis around it.
Red Bull also has ex-Renault Mark Smith as technical director, ex-Renault Rob Marshall as chief designer and ex-Jaguar Racing Ben Agathangelou as senior aerodynamicist.
Red Bull sporting director Christian Horner said: "We now have some real technical strength in depth in our team, with a group of engineers that is one of the strongest in F1.
"Most of the ingredients are in place for a strong assault on the world championship. It may still take a little time for everything to gel, but over the next three years we expect to realise our full potential."
