IRL looking at Montreal race

The IndyCar Series could have a race at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on the same weekend as the NASCAR Busch Series next year

The Busch Series race will run on Saturday August 4, however with the Nextel Cup not sharing the bill, a slot is available for another race to run on Sunday.

IRL vice-president of communications Fred Nation told the Toronto Sun: "We have been engaged in discussions with (circuit promoter) Normand Legault regarding a race at Gilles Villeneuve.

"We are trying to finalise our schedule right now, but we're not in a position to announce a date for a Montreal race at this time. It may or may not happen."

Only two race weekends are allowed on the circuit per year, with one being the Canadian Grand Prix. Recently, Champ Car has hosted races on the other weekend, but rumours of a NASCAR race have been around for a long time.

So far the IndyCar Series has announced twelve races for next season, with the most recent additions being Motegi and Chicagoland staying on the schedule.
