Newman/Haas dominate practice

Sebastien Bourdais ended this morning's free practice session 0.6 seconds clear of Newman/Haas Racing teammate Bruno Junqueira - who in turn was over half a second clear of his nearest pursuer

The track was dry throughout, which allowed Bourdais to display exactly why he's heading for his third Champ Car title on the trot, lapping the 4.048-mile course in 1:42.913, with an average speed of 141.603mph.

Junqueira's commitment through the daunting Canada corner paid dividends - until on his final run he over-committed - but he looks a definite contender for pole this afternoon on a circuit where he has traditionally excelled.

AJ Allmendinger and Paul Tracy ended up a somewhat lacklustre third and sixth for Forsythe Championship Racing, but that would be a better alternative than if the rain hits in qualifying and grid slots are set on Friday times. If that was the case, the pair would start fourth and sixth respectively.

Will Power ended up seventh quickest, but Team Australia partner Alex Tagliani spun off on the final turn, and wound up a disappointing 13th.

Mario Dominguez finally got into his stride with his new team Rocketsports, and went 10th fastest, while Jan Heylen also impressed for Dale Coyne Racing in 11th.
