Webber awaits Schumacher's explanation
Mark Webber says he is looking forward to hearing Michael Schumacher's explanation of the Monaco qualifying incident when the Grand Prix Drivers' Association (GPDA) meet at Silverstone next week
The GPDA meeting is expected to be a heated affair, with some members set to call for Schumacher to stand down from his role as a director of the organisation.
Speaking at a promotional event for Williams sponsor Philips, Webber said that the other GPDA members hope that Schumacher might be more forthcoming in the private meeting than he has been in public.
"The drivers will talk about it professionally and hear Michael's view on it for the first time as a group and see what he wants to tell us as fellow professionals about why he stopped on the track," Webber told autosport.com.
"There's only one guy who knows how he's going to handle it with us as fellow professionals, and that's himself.
"So I'm interested to hear what he has to say about the last 60 seconds in Monaco, to see if it's the same as he's been telling everyone else."
Schumacher has expressed a desire to put the Monaco incident behind him and concentrate on future races, but Webber thinks that the issue will dominate the Silverstone weekend as well.
"Ferrari want to draw a line under it because they know it was deliberate," he said.
"No-one else does (want to move on). Ferrari want to back out of it and defuse the situation.
"That's their strategy, but I'm not sure the English media will agree with it."
