Montagny aims to maximise F1 chance

Franck Montagny is aiming to maximise the opportunity of driving for the Super Aguri team in the next two races of the season

But the Frenchman is under no illusions about his chances of escaping the bottom of the field.

"I have got this opportunity and Monaco to do what I can do and try and help the team," said Montagny. "But to be honest we cannot expect to be in the middle of the grid and we have to try and fight as much as we can and try to do our best."

Montagny made his Formula One racing debut last weekend at the European Grand Prix, when he replaced Japanese driver Yuji Ide.

After the FIA revoked Ide's superlicense, Super Aguri confirmed that Montagny would keep the seat in Barcelona and later this month at the Monaco Grand Prix.

The former Renault test driver, however, hinted that he is not expecting to keep his drive for the rest of the season.

"I think if you look at the sidepod of the car it says 'Born in Japan' so it is more interesting to have a Japanese driver in the car, but I am in the car and I will try and do a good job," he said.
