Poulter hopeful Prost will race

Grand Prix Masters founder Scott Poulter is hopeful four-time world champion Alain Prost will be racing in the series by the time it visits Silverstone in August

Prost has signalled his intent to participate in the series for over 45, ex-Formula One drivers, and appears in the series' publicity material, but didn't race in the maiden event at Kyalami last November. He is not taking part in next weekend's 2006 season opener in Qatar, either.

Poulter says he is in regular contact with the Frenchman, and that if issues with getting enough testing in before hand can be resolved, then Prost could be on the grid for the Silverstone race on August 13.

"Alain has kept a watching brief on the series and we still talk regularly," Poulter told autosport.com. "He had stuff going on with the Andros Trophy and his commitments were bigger than he anticipated. Plus he is about 500/600km behind everyone else in mileage in the car.

"But I'm optimistic we that we will see him race at Silverstone. There are a couple of things we have to agree first such as ensuring he has got the same mileage as everyone else and his other commitments.

"But Mansell and Prost racing together at Silverstone would be phenomenal. It would be great seeing those two racers again, and with other drivers like Emerson Fittipaldi."
