Weak entry list for Pau F3
The Pau International F3 street race has had a disappointing entry in its inaugural year
Just 23 cars are on the entry list for the French race in 11 days' time.
All the frontrunners from the French and Italian championships have entered, but a clashing round of the German series and the attendance of only one British team leave the field short of quality.
The solo British squad, Carlin Motorsport, will run its pair of Dallara-Mugens for Narain Karthikeyan and Michael Bentwood.
'The entry's not as good as we'd like to see it, said race organiser Barry Bland, 'but the Italian teams have seen the importance of the event and they've decided to go.'
Bland added that German teams have pledged 15 cars for the race in 2000, as long as there is no clashing championship race.
He believes that British teams will compete if the Germans do. 'The UK teams said that, if the German teams weren't going this year, there was no point in entering,' he said.
