Barrichello targets title with Honda
Brazilian Rubens Barrichello has set his sights on winning the world title with the Honda team
Barrichello has joined Honda from Ferrari after six seasons and nine wins with the Maranello-based outfit, and the 33-year old is hoping the Japanese team will give him the chance he never had at Ferrari.
"We are going to challenge at every race to see if we can win, as much as we can get, if you win races then you might for the championship, so I am coming to this thing to see if I can be World Champion and that is how I take it," said Barrichello at the launch of Honda's new RA106 car.
"It is a serious project and I am taking it very seriously."
After having spent six years playing second fiddle to Michael Schumacher at Ferrari, Barrichello admitted he is pleased to arrive at Honda, where he said he would have equal status with teammate Jenson Button.
"Yes, I am very happy," he said. "It is the way it should be anyway, and there was one of the decision why I decided to come to this team.
"They are very prepared, they have lots of good people and as I have said, I am here sometimes just in front of the press they say I am just putting the words out to impress, but I am quite impressed.
"There is a definition in my mind that we will do well these years, not just this one."
Barrichello also said his relationship with Button was very good.
"It has been quite good. We have spoken already, it is going to be open for us and that is going to be good," Barrichello added.
"We are going to be talking about the car, we are going to be solving the problems together and whoever is there to win will win, but why not have fun outside the track. So we are still good friends and that is how it should be."
