Fry praises 'best' driver line-up in F1
The Honda Formula One team have the best driver line-up in their history, according to team boss Nick Fry
"I think this is the best driver line-up in our team's history," Fry told reporters during the launch of the team's new car in Barcelona.
"It is also the best team of drivers on the grid. You can debate the merits of any one individual but our three put together is the best team."
Brazilian Rubens Barrichello has left Ferrari after six seasons with the Italian squad and has joined Jenson Button and test driver Anthony Davidson at Honda, previously BAR.
Fry believes Barrichello's input will be a big asset for the team.
"Rubens has been exactly what we expected," Fry added.
"He is technically very strong, he knows exactly what he wants, he has a way of doing things which is polite but firm and when he does not agree with something he puts his own view across very well and concisely, but firmly and pleasantly and he is a big asset to the team and he is working very well with Jenson and Anthony and the rest of the team and his maturity and his depth and experience is going to be a huge asset to the rest of the team."
Barrichello comes from Ferrari having won nine races, all of them as Michael Schumacher's teammate.
Fry reckons Barrichello and Button will be evenly matched during the whole season, and that both pushing each other hard will be beneficial for the team.
"We are in a very good position in that Anthony is going to go as fast as he can to prove what we can do and Jenson and Rubens are both going to want to do well against each other and I think the result of that is that either of them are going to do better than they would otherwise do because they are going to be pushed that little bit harder.
"It can work both ways, they both will work well together and will want the team to do the best they possibly can so Jenson is going to do better because Rubens is around and Jenson is going to do better because Jenson is around, so it works both ways."
Button is still looking to score his first win in Formula One after more than 100 Grands Prix starts, but Fry said the team are not adding any extra pressure to the Briton to win as soon as possible.
"I think Jenson has always been under pressure and that comes from the fact that he wants to win," Fry said. "We are all in the business where we support each other and we do the best job that we possibly can and Jenson is going as fast as the car allows.
"He drives beautifully and I don't think he is under any undue pressure other than normal pressure which is from himself."
