Jordan looks to the future
Flamboyant Formula 1 team boss Eddie Jordan remains optimistic that his team can return to form in the future - despite a weekend of rumours in Brazil that the outfit will not even be on the grid next year
Against the backdrop of a renewed drive to cut costs in F1, and speculation that Jordan not only has a Toyota engine deal agreed but also has made progress with Chinese investors, Jordan himself is remaining upbeat.
Speaking after the Brazilian Grand Prix, where his team failed to match its victory from 2003, Jordan said: "It's been a very difficult season but I am hugely heartened nevertheless by progress with several issues this weekend that hopefully will show Formula 1 and Jordan can be great again.
"There have been rumours about the team all season and I want to thank my staff in particular, as well as the guys at Pi, Cosworth and Bridgestone, our suppliers and every person who is closely involved with us. They have all shown commitment and fighting spirit throughout, never giving up in spite of very tough times.
"The experience has strengthened us all and I believe that fortune favours the brave. Brazil 2004 may be remembered for more than the racing - for Jordan and for F1."
Jordan duo Timo Glock and Nick Heidfeld had a frustrating time at Interlagos. Glock finished 15th after suffering from a nervous handling car, while Heidfeld was forced out with a clutch problem.
