Pau race 2: Carbone takes first win
Fabio Carbone has taken his first victory in the F3 Euroseries, taking victory ahead of championship leader Ryan Briscoe in an incident-packed race held at the historic Pau circuit in France
The Brazilian benefited from the misfortune that befell both Briscoe and Nico Rosberg, who both took turns to lead the race.
Australian Briscoe, who won the first race at the circuit yesterday (Sunday), led away from pole position until he clashed with second place runner Alexandre Premat. The incident dropped Briscoe down to third, although he managed to battle back to second at the end.
"The attack of Alexandra was a bit unexpected," said Briscoe. "He drove over my rear wheel and the car was handling very badly after that."
The incident handed the advantage to Nico Rosberg, who looked set for victory until his car retired five laps from the finish, allowing Carbone through to take the win.
Jamie Green claimed an excellent third position on a one-off run in the series. "I am very happy but there races were very difficult," said the British series front-runner. "This was my first time with the ASM team and it was also my first time at Pau. So it is great to be on the podium."
