No penalties over Kyle Busch/Joey Logano Las Vegas NASCAR brawl

NASCAR has decided not to penalise Kyle Busch and Joey Logano, or any members of their teams, following the pitlane brawl at Las Vegas on Sunday

After a last-lap collision, Busch approached Logano on pit road and threw a glancing blow at his head, which sparked a brawl between Logano's Penske crew and Busch.

NASCAR has decided not to issue any penalties to the parties involved in the altercation.

"After a full review of multiple videos and discussions with both competitors and their respective race teams, we felt Sunday's post-race incident does not warrant any further action," said Steve O'Donnell, NASCAR executive vice president and chief racing development officer.

"NASCAR was built on the racing that took place on the final lap by two drivers battling for position.

"The emotions of our athletes run high, and Kyle Busch and Joey Logano are two of the most passionate and competitive drivers in the sport.

"Both competitors are very clear on our expectations going forward and we will be meeting with them in person prior to practice on Friday in Phoenix."

NASCAR chairman and CEO Brian France has warned that any retaliation would not be tolerated.

Logano revealed on Tuesday he and Busch have spoken since the incident.

"Obviously, we didn't speak much there, so I got a chance to call him up earlier today to be able to talk to him a little bit and at least tell my side of the story," he said.

"We're going to have two sides to the story like there is all the time, but really the bottom line is we're two passionate race car drivers.

"We're two of the best in the sport that are going to go for wins that are aggressive and we collided."

Previously, NASCAR fined Marcos Ambrose $25,000 for punching fellow driver Casey Mears in the face after their scuffle at the April 2014 Richmond race.

Beyond the fight, there were still a couple penalties issued after the Las Vegas race.

The crew chief of race winner Martin Truex Jr was fined $10,000 for improperly installed lug nuts on the car.

Ty Dillon's crew chief was fined the same amount for the same reason.
