Jenson Button sure his McLaren F1 car had major problem in Brazil

The 2009 F1 world champion failed to make it out of Q1 in a qualifying session where team-mate Fernando Alonso reached Q3, and then struggled with balance and rear grip issues in the race despite usually being strong in wet conditions.

Button ultimately finished 16th and last.

"We need to go back to the factory and work out what it is that's wrong with the car," he said.

"On Friday, the car was working really well, I was really comfortable with the car and it had a really strong rear end.

"Then on Saturday, it wasn't working and on Sunday it was just exaggerated because of the conditions.

"Finishing last in the wet is unusual for me, normally I'm pretty good.

"So there's definitely something wrong because I don't think I've forgotten how to drive in the wet."

Alonso ran as high as seventh before a spin out of the final corner dropped him to last.

The double world champion battled back to salvage 10th place and his eighth points finish of the season.

"We started 10th, finished 10th with some retirements in front of us so definitely we didn't take some opportunities," Alonso said.

"We should aim for something better.

"Conditions were extremely difficult and sometimes it was just enough to keep the car on the track.

"In the end, one point is what this is.

"Hopefully in Abu Dhabi we can finish the season on a high."
