DTM Hungaroring: Mortara on race two pole, Wittmann third

Audi's Edoardo Mortara claimed a second DTM pole of the weekend at the Hungaroring ahead of Mattias Ekstrom and championship leader Marco Wittmann

Title contender Mortara backed up a dominant showing on Saturday - winning from pole position - with the fastest lap in Sunday's second qualifying session, recording a time of 1m34.984s in his Team Abt Sportsline RS5 to usurp fellow Audi driver Ekstrom by 0.154 seconds with his final lap.

But Wittmann, who is 14 points clear of Mortara in the points, ended the session only one thousandth slower than Ekstrom in his Team RMG BMW M4 to break up Audi's dominance of the front of the grid.

Jamie Green led for much of the session but was bumped back to fourth late on, himself ending up just 0.006s down on Wittmann's time.

Saturday podium finisher Miguel Molina made it four Audis in the first five positions with fifth, while Team RBM drivers Maxime Martin and Tom Blomqvist backed up BMW's improved pace in sixth and seventh respectively.

Robert Wickens wound up fastest of the Mercedes contingent in eighth, four tenths away from Mortara's pole time, while Nico Muller and Adrien Tambay completed the top 10 in their Audis.
