Jake Hughes gets GP3 grid penalty for Matt Parry clash at Spa

Jake Hughes will take a three-place grid penalty for next week's first GP3 race at Monza after being judged the guilty party in his Spa collision with Matt Parry

The British pair collided in both races in Belgium - first in a three-car tangle with Arjun Maini on the exit of La Source at the start of Saturday's opener and then at Les Combes following the first safety car restart of Sunday's race.

Hughes ran wide at the first part of the chicane while trying to attack Parry for 15th as they came through the field.

The DAMS driver then clipped Parry's Koiranen car as they turned into the left-handed part of the complex, sending Parry into the barriers and ending both their races.

Hughes, who took DAMS's first GP3 win at Hockenheim in the previous round, will consequently be demoted three places on the Monza race one grid.

Stewards also chose to add 10 seconds to Maini's race two time as a punishment for hitting title contender Alexander Albon.

The penalty drops Maini from 12th to 16th in the results. Albon managed to continue to finish 10th despite being sent airborne by Maini on the way into the Bus Stop.

ART's Nirei Fukuzumi was issued with the same penalty during the race for dispatching Kevin Jorg into the Les Combes barrier in a similar clash to the Hughes/Parry incident.

That dropped Fukuzumi from 11th on the road to 16th before he regained one place due to the Maini ruling.
