Marc Marquez given all-clear following MotoGP crash in Austria

MotoGP championship leader Marc Marquez has been cleared to continue in the Austrian Grand Prix following hospital checks on the shoulder he dislocated in a practice crash

The Honda rider fell heavily at the Red Bull Ring's Turn 3 right-hander - traditionally known as Turn 2 in car racing - while looking to avoid team-mate Dani Pedrosa, 10 minutes into third practice.

Marquez got up from the asphalt nursing his left shoulder, which was dislocated but popped back into place.

He did not rejoin the session and following initial checks at the circuit was taken to the nearby Leoben hospital "to have his left shoulder checked", Honda confirmed.

Having been cleared to continue, Marquez tweeted: "It has only been the fright! All is OK!" and that he is "eager to ride the bike".

Marquez leads the championship by 48 points after nine races.

The Spaniard raced and finished second in the 2013 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, just hours after dislocating his left shoulder in a warm-up fall.

The Austrian GP weekend continues with fourth practice from 12:30pm UK time on Saturday, then the second phase of qualifying - which Marquez has booked a place in - one hour later.

Ducati's Andrea Iannone set the pace in Saturday morning's session.
