Haas F1 problems make Esteban Gutierrez 'look very bad'

Esteban Gutierrez feels the problems Haas is suffering make him look like a "very bad" driver given the constant stream of issues he has suffered this season

Gutierrez, who has yet to score a point for Haas in contrast to the 22 collected by team-mate Romain Grosjean, sat out most of the second practice session for the Spanish Grand Prix with an electrical problem.

It was the latest gremlin to blight Gutierrez's VF-16 this season, leading to the Mexican expressing his frustration, placing the onus firmly on the team to sort out the problems.

"I honestly put myself aside from this because it's not really my responsibility to fix the car," said Gutierrez.

"The team has to get on top of this. I am here to drive, to drive as fast as possible, and it is what I really love doing.

"It's not nice because it's making me look very bad to the outside as a driver, personally.

"All the fucking great job I'm doing on the inside is not really perceived by the outside. So it's a little bit frustrating.

"Also, showing my pace, I've been quick, I just hope to get the car that I deserve in order to put the results on paper."

Suggested to Gutierrez it was difficult to remain positive, again he pointed an accusing finger at the team.

"I don't worry about myself. At the moment I feel very good," added Gutierrez.

"But this pressure is not on me - this pressure is on the people responsible for it."

UNHAPPY GROSJEAN MAKING CHANGES

Grosjean, meanwhile, is to revert to the set-up of the car he used to finish fifth in Bahrain after complaining strongly over the radio during practice in Barcelona.

"I thought after Bahrain we could do something on the car and change it in a way that would suit me better because in the race we had clear points when I wasn't so happy with the car," said Grosjean.

"China is a very different track, front limited and we struggled getting the heat into the tyres, then getting the tyres too hot and not getting the right tyre pressures.

"All the set-up changes we made in China were hidden by the fact we struggled with the tyres.

"That is why we decided to keep the set-up in Russia, but we didn't really understand very well what happened there.

"So here we are at a track we know with very high track temperature, so at least we know things are working properly, but the car doesn't feel right

"In hindsight we should have [changed back] before Russia. Hopefully tomorrow is a much better day."
