Kimi Raikkonen fastest for Ferrari as final day of F1 testing starts

Kimi Raikkonen used the ultra soft tyres to set the pace on the fourth and final morning of the first pre-season Formula 1 test at Barcelona

The Finn clocked a 1m23.477s in the Ferrari just before lunch to finish 1.786s clear of Renault's Kevin Magnussen, whose best time was set on the softs.

It proved to be a more successful morning for Raikkonen, who managed just four laps before lunch on Wednesday due to fuel system checks.

The same cannot be said for McLaren-Honda, which suffered a small coolant leak that left the car up on its stands for most of the morning while the team investigated it.

Fernando Alonso, who propped up the timesheet, managed just three laps early on and did not get back out before lunch.

Mercedes had another productive session with Lewis Hamilton clocking up 99 laps, the highest tally of the morning, to bring his total for the week to 343.

It was also the first time Mercedes ran its new nose, which arrived at the track on Wednesday.

How innovative is the Mercedes nose?

Team-mate Nico Rosberg will take over driving duties for the afternoon session.

Max Verstappen had a busy morning as he completed 75 laps on his way to the third quickest on the medium-compound tyres.

Red Bull's Daniil Kvyat was fourth quickest on the mediums, ahead of Felipe Nasr in the 2015-spec Sauber on the softs.

Hamilton was sixth, ahead of Force India's development driver Alfonso Celis and Manor's Rio Haryanto.

Williams's Felipe Massa was ninth quickest with Esteban Gutierrez having a quiet morning in the Haas, managing just 26 laps on his way to 10th in the standings.
