Beitske Visser joins Pons as one of three additions to F3.5 V8 grid

Dutch racer Beitske Visser will remain in the rebranded Formula V8 3.5 championship for a third season, switching from AVF to Pons Racing as one of three additions to the grid

Visser is joined at Pons by GP3 graduate Alex Bosak, who is signed to race for the team for two seasons, while former Pons driver Yu Kanamaru has switched to Teo Martin Motorsport.

Pons has remained loyal to the series since the inaugural year of World Series by Renault in 2005, and team principal Sito Pons expressed gratitude to AVF boss Adrian Valles for his part in securing the driver line-up.

"I would like to thank Adrian Valles for his sporting generosity and kindness in easing the contact with our two drivers," said Pons.

"I'm convinced that Beitske Visser arrives in my team in the best sporting [form] of her life. Having started in FR3.5 at the age of 17, we can expect a very promising season. Our newcomer Alex Bosak will benefit from her great experience."

Kanamaru is the first signing for incoming Formula V8 3.5 team Teo Martin Motorsport.

He finished third in last year's EuroFormula Open drivers' standings with the Spanish team.

The Japanese driver competed in the final three FR3.5 rounds of 2015, taking a best finish of sixth at Le Mans Bugatti, and will be reunited with former Pons team manager Emilio de Villota Jr at Teo Martin Motorsport.

"First of all, I want to thank Teo for giving me such an opportunity," said Kanamaru.

"This championship is not going to be easy for sure, but I only see the potential and bright future of this team. I will give everything to win some races, and I hope I can make him proud from the beginning of his new chapter."

Team boss Teo Martin added: "The ladder that our team provides to our drivers is important, and the best example is Yu.

"He finished third last year in EuroFormula Open, and now makes the leap to Formula V8 3.5 with us too. He has already shown his skills with these cars, so I am sure he can contribute a lot to the team in 2016."

The announcements take the number of drivers confirmed for FV8 3.5 to nine, with Matthieu Vaxiviere, Egor Orudzhev and Tom Dillmann among those to commit to staying in the series.
