Jorge Lorenzo: Valentino Rossi relationship will get back to normal

The pair's on-track battle became an off-track sideshow in October, following Rossi's public declaration that Honda's Marc Marquez was trying to help countryman Lorenzo.

Rossi and Marquez then clashed at Sepang, and the Italian started the season finale at Valencia from the back of the grid as a result.

Lorenzo, who said Rossi's penalty was inadequate, eventually secured his third title, and while he admits it did test their relationship, he is confident it is not damaged beyond repair.

"Valentino has been always very clever speaking to the media and sometimes you don't have completely the reason, but he expressed his opinions," he said in a motogp.com interview.

"You have to understand it as best as possible.

"It's normal that the relationship gets a little bit tenser and especially after Sepang, where he expressed his opinion and I expressed my opinion, the situation did get a little bit more tense.

"I think the past will forget everything and everything in the future will come again into normality."

Lorenzo said having now won MotoGP titles against Rossi, Marquez and Casey Stoner was a particular source of pride.

"It makes me very proud to spend six or seven years finishing in first or second, but it also makes me very proud to be champion, fighting and competing against three generation of champions," he said.

"Like Marc who is younger, Casey who is the same age as me, and Valentino who is older.

"For me these are the three fastest and most talented of the 21st century."
